Nairobi Art Tour 2013
An art tour visiting Nairobi’s leading art centres, galleries, artist studios, and community art hubs—a wide range of sites where art is being made and shown. The tour is guided by Nishio Kosakusho Nairobi Branch, an art unit with deep knowledge of contemporary Kenyan art. Participants meet artists and their work directly, deepening their understanding of contemporary East African art and its historical and social background.
The tour is joined by Yukihiro Taguchi and Shuta Hasunuma, both artists in residence in Nairobi at the same time. It includes a safari at Nairobi National Park and Amboseli National Park, where participants can also experience the wildlife and Maasai ways of life at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. All meals are included throughout the tour, ranging from local eateries in the working-class neighborhoods to upscale restaurants with spectacular views, offering a taste of Kenyan cuisine in all its variety.
